The Last Monday
I hope he weekend was great! We are finishing up a few last minute studies and getting ready for the END!! I can’t believe it is really already upon us! I have had a fabulous year and will be very sad to pas these kids on to their lucky 3rd grade teachers. There is no written homework but I am asking ALL CHILDREN to check their own library shelves at home to look for my books and return them to school tomorrow. I am also missing MATH MEDALS. P L E A S E L O O K ! I need them for next year.
Have a great night.

I hope you had a nice weekend.
I looks like we really didn’t need to cancel the picnic as the rain has held out so far. However, one time we DID go on a ‘chance of rain’ day and were drenched so we felt it was better to be safe than sorry (especially because the park wasunder water anyway)and stayed in school today. Besides, now we still have something to look forward to. EVERYONE needs to bring a BAG LUNCH for THURSDAY. Hot lunches have been canceled and credits given back today.
The video is in. It will be fun to see it and remember all of the things that were done this year. The video runs about 30 minutes. I will try to get it started around 10 to 2 tomorrow, Wednesday, afternoon. We’ll be waiting for those adults who can join us and then send your copy home to enjoy again and again. (The kids love to see themselves on TV.) (There is not enough room for siblings in our classroom, sorry)
There’s a bit of finish up work to be done at home and some of the kids said they would like to do one final poem recitation. It is optional and we’ll hear our poets on Friday for those who choose to recite.
Have a great night.
Homework:
- Reading: Read Are You a Fossil Fan?
- Math: Finish subtraction page 416.
Please check for correct regrouping.
Have a great night.

It’s Tuesday and this short week is zooming by. The kids are loving cursive and are really pretty good at it. I am trying to give at least 2 letters each day so that each of the letters will be introduced before summer.
We are learning about fossils in reading and will be working on dinosaurs next.
I reviewed subtraction with regrouping this afternoon. It is apparent that many have forgotten the concept of regrouping (borrowing). Tonight’s homework page IS SUBTRACTION with/without REGROUPING. Will you please carefully check over your child’s paper to be sure they ARE getting more ones or tens, or NOT if not necessary. There are so many ways to make errors for these big numbers that it will be really helpful for you to give the math a once over immediately to show what needs to be done. Thank you.
Information about the pen-pal picnic Tuesday, May26, and our video viewing Wednesday, May 27 in the afternoon is coming home tomorrow. I forgot to give them to the kids today. Hope you can join us.
Homework:
- Math: Finish subtraction page 411-412. DO FIRST !
- Reading: Read Fossils tell of Long Ago (1/2 tonight ?) to be recorded on
Reading Charts for the last time this Thursday. - Cursive: There are several practice pages.
I would like to see page 68, the list of words.
They need to be working on same size, slant and spacing.
Homework shouldn’t take more than a half of and hour. If it takes longer, and your child was really working, skip it and send them out play on this lovely day. (Write on the unfinished pages ‘time’s up’) Have a great night.

It’s Monday and we got lots accomplished today. But we also had 6 out sick today. Last week we had strep. Yikes! Stay healthy. Hope the weekend was nice. This week we are cutting back on written work but trying to cover a full week’s worth of material and then some. I offered a spelling packet and a few chose to tear out the pages. I am not requiring them to be completed except for extra credit or they can be used to “play school’ at home. We will have a test Thursday (short week). We’re finishing up place value and reviewing higher number addition. Looks good so far. We’ll start subtraction soon. Have a good night. I hope you can get in some of your make up games and it stays dry for the week.
Homework:
- Reading: Learn and return vocab for Fossils Tell of Long Ago.
- Finish: cursive page 63 i t w u e
(practice and keep the rest of the white sheets at home) - Math: Subtraction fact test Practice, Step UP
